That's exactly why I bought it and it works very well and easily and firmly clamps to my stand's tubing. I was very impressed by how wide the clamp can go. It's worth paying extra for this over cheaper brands, as the build quality is solid. Yes, the spring isn't strong as it could be, but it holds my iPhone (which is in a protective case) easily. Really pleased with this.
