This item works great, however, sometimes you do need to manually turn your record platter while the turntable is in neutral.  The instructions show it being used with the turntable motor. To limit wear on the motor, it's probably best that you don't do that.  The microfiber works very well as the maintenance part of my vinyl workflow.I usually clean using either a VPI or my Spin Clean

   then play my record.  If the record has been stored, I use the Groovewasher before each play....the G2 cleaner liquid evaporates rapidly and the microfiber pad is easily cleaned using a little distilled water.I also purchased these to clean the pad periodically

  The wood block and wooden handle is super classy and looks great sitting next to my Rega P3.  Do yourself a favor and get a Spinclean and a Groovewasher and keep the tunes on vinyl alive!
