It includes magnets, wires, and a comprehensive 60-page full-color manual to guide users through hands-on experiments exploring electricity, magnetism, and energy conversion. With no assembly required, this kit offers a quick, engaging way to visualize and understand fundamental electrical engineering concepts. ## Description Features: Electric motor is made of transparent plastic to show the inside components. Set up the motor to run on battery power and learn how a motor works. Reconfigure the device to work in reverse as a hand crank electric generator. Experiment with magnets to learn about the force of magnetism. Magnetic fields relate to electric current. Build simple circuits consisting of the motor or generator, wires and a light bulb to learn about the flow of electricity. Learn about gears and drive-trains. Effectively convert kinetic energy into electrical energy and back again. Color and finish: Full color, 48 page manual guides experiments with step-by-step instructions. ## Features - Learn how an electric motor converts electricity into motion - Explore how an electric generator converts motion into electricity - Observe the motor's inner working through its transparent plastic - Discover how magnetic fields relate to electric current - New 2012 item includes 60 page full color manual ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B007WDGZF2 | | Age Range Description | 8+ | | Battery Description | AA (2) | | Best Sellers Rank | #331,436 in Toys & Games ( See Top 100 in Toys & Games ) #1,536 in Electronic Learning Toys & Kits | | Brand | Thames & Kosmos | | Country of Origin | USA | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars (414) | | Educational Objective | STEM | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00814743010390 | | Included Components | magnets, plastic, wires | | Is Assembly Required | No | | Item Dimensions | 33.3 x 6.6 x 22.6 Centimeters | | Item Part Number | 665036, TK665036 | | Item Type Name | Thames & Kosmos Motors and Generators | | Item Weight | 0.02 Kilograms | | Language | English | | Manufacturer | Thames & kosmos | | Manufacturer Part Number | 665036 | | Manufacturer Warranty Description | 1 year limited warranty | | Manufacturer recommended age | 36 months - 8 years | | Material | Plastic | | Model Number | 665036 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Set Name | Motors & Generators | | Size | 8.9 | | Sub Brand | thames | | Theme | science-and-nature | | UPC | 885355465823 433599222704 094313596190 814743010390 730309081423 | | Unit Count | 1.0 Count | ## Product Details - **Age Range (Description):** 8+ - **Brand:** Thames & Kosmos - **Item dimensions L x W x H:** 33.3 x 6.6 x 22.6 Centimeters - **Size:** 8.9 - **Theme:** science-and-nature ## Images ![Thames & Kosmos Motors & Generators - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51P-aR1x+OL.jpg) ![Thames & Kosmos Motors & Generators - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41Tq9g5acJL.jpg) ![Thames & Kosmos Motors & Generators - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41Tagl7+w9L.jpg) ![Thames & Kosmos Motors & Generators - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51lyC7FXDUL.jpg) ![Thames & Kosmos Motors & Generators - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51hNEe6eopL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: ?right for boy age 8 and good at building** A: I think so, we got a bunch of these sets (because they are modular and can work together to build more complex stuff) for our 8, now 9 year old. He is an expert at Legos--building the 14-16 year old sets. He found this fun and it is still on the front of the toy shelf. T&K manuals are like mini-science books. They have been great to re-teach the mom too :) **Q: Seriously... gender - boy!?! really!? girls need to know about science and engineering, as well! the gender description should be removed!** A: Definitely for Girls, too! I’m with you there! Amazon needs to know that Electronic learning is not gender specific to Boys and needs to put the Electronic learning category under all genders! **Q: Does this set turn gears to make other sets parts move** A: There are 2 gears connected to a generator through a hand crank. There is a clear plastic cover over the gears so you can see how they mesh together as you turn the hand crank. **Q: Is this compatible with the Thames and Kosmos Electronics learning circuits series of kits as an alternative to the battery compartmentt?** A: I’m not sure. I didn’t purchase the circuits kit. ## Frequently Bought Together - Thames & Kosmos Motors & Generators Science Kit | 25 Guided STEM Experiment Lessons | 48 Page Color Student Guide | Grades 3-6 | Ages 8+ | Play & Learn | Parents' Choice Silver Award Winner - Thames & Kosmos Simple Machines Science Experiment & Model Building Kit, Introduction to Mechanical Physics, Build 26 Models to Investigate The 6 Classic Simple Machines - Thames & Kosmos Electricity & Magnetism Science Kit | 62 Safe Experiments Investigating Magnetic Fields & Forces for Ages 8+ | Assemble Electric Circuits with Easy Snap-Together Blocks --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.uk/products/372615181-thames-and-kosmos-motors-and-generators](https://www.desertcart.co.uk/products/372615181-thames-and-kosmos-motors-and-generators) --- *Product available on Desertcart United Kingdom* *Store origin: GB* *Last updated: 2026-10-30*
