I have a relatively cheap gazebo (10' by 12', cost about $350) at a cabin in the woods. The last time I went up there, a small tree had fallen across several of the metal cross-members of the gazebo frame, bending but not breaking them. The frame members are made of angular hollow extruded metal about 1/2 inch outside diameter - strong enough to hold the gazebo canopy but no match for a falling tree. A couple of the welded metal joints were *just about* broken and were holding on with tiny pieces of metal while a few of the straight shafts were bent and starting to rust. I straightened out the bent shafts and joints as best I could before starting the repair process. Since a new gazebo would cost hundreds of dollars, I decided to give FiberFix a try: it has worked wonderfully!I bought the single 2" tape package and followed the directions, which are quite straightforward. Since I had about 6 shafts and joints I wanted to repair, I got a pair of junky scissors out just to see if I could cut the tape and get multiple repairs out of one roll of fiberglass tape. (Apparently some others have tried this unsuccessfully.) It worked just fine, but I knew I had to work quickly. Before I started the repair process, I made sure that every application point was ready for taping - straightened, sanded, ladder ready, etc. I then dipped the roll in water for about 10 seconds; the indicated 5 seconds didn't seem long enough for water to penetrate through to the center of the roll of tape. As quick as I could, I wrapped the first straight tube about 5 times around and cut it with the scissors - that worked just fine. The tape cut quite easily. I made sure before I went to the next repair spot that I tightly wrapped the joint with the included tape. (Since I had several separate repairs to make it would have been useful to have several "tightening" tape sections. I later tried Saran wrap, which worked OK but couldn't wrap as tightly as the FiberFix tightening tape.) After wrapping and tightening the first repair point, I quickly went to the second point (and I had to move a ladder between each repair so I was hustling) and wrapped it as well, about 5-6 times around the metal tubing. Since I used the tightening tape on my first repair, I could only hand-wrap this repair point with my hands, but it worked out OK - not as smooth later as the first repair point, but it's sandable so it worked fine. After I wrapped the second repair point, I cut the fiberglass tape again, and went on to the third repair point. I wrapped that metal tubing joint (a T-joint) about 5-6 times around all three arms of the joint, and I was out of tape. I also had to hand-tighten that repair point as well, but it also worked fine.Since my first try worked so well, I got a second 2" kit and went through the same process to repair the other three bent shafts and joints. After checking out all six repairs, the FiberFix tape has hardened into something equivalent to rock or steel. It's WAY stronger than the original metal tubing and obviously far cheaper than replacing the whole gazebo.So, FiberFix may not work in some applications, but for repairing cheap bent metal tubing, it worked perfectly, quickly, and easily. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I was skeptical but am very impressed! *by M***. on December 24, 2013* We had an expensive umbrella get damaged in a windstorm and I originally used duct tape to "fix" it. It looked pretty bad because it was sagging on the arm that was broken and duct tape, as great as it is, just wasn't doing the job. I was about to just bite the bullet and throw the umbrella away and buy a new one but I heard about this stuff on a blog post and decided it was worth a try for the money. When I got it and started wrapping it around the umbrella arm I was still a bit unsure as to how it was going to do. It wasn't wrapping around the arm as easily as I had hoped it would and was starting to look like it was going to be a waste of money but I finally managed to get it wrapped around properly and then left it alone for a couple days. When I came back to it I was amazed. It was rock solid. I put the umbrella back up and it did not sag at all. Heck that arm is stronger than any of the other ones now and it only looks bad if you really look at it from underneath but it gets the job done and, honestly, it looks far better than duct tape! This stuff is awesome! I guess the only thing I was kind of surprised by was the fact that once you open the stuff you pretty much have to use it all at once so be aware that you will need to use this whole box on your project unless you have a couple projects in mind and do them all at the same time. Other than that it works as advertised and I will definitely keep this in mind for any future projects that require this kind of strength. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good tape, works well. *by S***O on October 24, 2019* I have only used the tape for one purpose, to attach a power strip to my wooden headboard. I placed the strip across the end of the headboard. It stuck well but I noticed after a few days the heavier end of the strip has slipped slightly lower. I may turn it around and placing it up and down instead of across, and the heavier end will be on the bottom of the strip which would solve the problem. I look forward to using the tape to attach mini lights around my windows for Christmas.
