As you get better with the Pro Edge..... and it doesn't take much skill, just patience, and time, and arm hair..... your chisels begin to take on a life they perhaps never saw before. My first practice chisels were lathe tools from 50 or so years ago, old Craftsman ones. YOU START AT 60 GRIT and work up!!!!!When you can shave hair off your arm with one of those old beasts, you are ready for the world of Robert Sorby's Sheffield steel.The 600 grit will take you a place in metal you have never gone before. a galaxy, far, far, far away.

When I am working on the lathe, I keep a 600 grit Trizact belt on my Sorby ProEdge to quickly touch up the edge on my tools. It yields an edge competitive with that produced by a 600 grit diamond hone only faster and, in my hands, more easily controlled.
