## Description

Each Keda Dye liquid dye color will contain (1) oz. of powerful alcohol dye can make up (2) quarts of wood finish stain. Keda liquid dye mixes with many types of reagents such as: Denatured Alcohol, Acetone, Lacquer Thinner, Alcohols, Water, but work best as an alcohol dye. That means Keda liquid dye mixes with numerous types of non oil base top coat as well as epoxy resin. That feature makes the Keda liquid organic dye a great way to color epoxy, shellac, and lacquer, as well as being a color potent dye stain. Keda liquid dye is of superior quality, for a very fair price, and is very color potent. We sincerely hope you will agree, and we look forward to serving any of your liquid wood dye needs. Exact Dye Color Names: Coal Black Dye Royal Blue Dye Bright Crimson Red Dye Walnut Brown Dye Amber Yellow Dye Dyes perform best when mixed with denatured alcohol, lacquer thinner, acetone, or solvents, but will work with water base also. As a water base, you may need a little more dye added to create that vibrant wood finish. Contents can be flammable especially when mixed with alcohols or other flammable reagents. Please use in a well ventilated area, and as always, with all wood finishing products, please wear proper personal protection equipment.

Review: Does not work as pictured - I really wanted this dye to work. I tried all I could to make it work and give it a fair shot, but it seemed no matter what I did, I would not get results any where near what is pictured. I had a table I was refinishing and I could not find any traditional stain in the shade of red I was wanting. Then I stumbled across this Crimson Red dye. It looked amazing in the pictures, so I ordered it. When it arrived I followed the instructions for diluting. I even stayed on the more concentrated end of the dilution range for maximum saturation. I agree with one reviewer, in a sense, that a little goes a long way. That applies to the amount of dye you use to make your solution. It doesn't take much. BUT. This does not spread as well as stain. I found myself using at least 4x the volume of this solution as I would normal stain. That was frustrating. I ended up using over half the bottle of dye on this one project. If only that's where the negatives stopped.... Not only does it not spread well, it is also very blotchy. It is EXTREMELY difficult to apply it in such a manner that you do not leave spots, blotches, lines, etc. Furthermore, after my first coat, instead of a bright, saturated, crimson red, I had a very pale pink. I had read a review where someone said it may take several coats. Fair enough, I thought, sometimes I have to use 2 or even 3 coats of regular stains. But after FIVE coats of this solution I still had a blotchy, pale, reddish pink at best. Maybe if I had applied a clear at that point it would have helped with the paleness, but it would not have done anything for the blotchyness or the color. At that point, I decided to just cover with an actual stain I already had. In summary, I used 4x as much product, which costed about twice as much as normal stain and ended up with a result that wasn't even use able. Maybe I applied it wrong? Who knows. I applied it just as I would any wood stain. The directions are somewhat lacking. The ad tells you what chemicals you can dilute the dye with. The directions tell you which ratio to use. But that's about it. No application method. No recoat time. No estimated number of coats needed. EDIT: After researching why I may have had this result, I came across some YouTube videos, which were actually made by the manufacturer! Turns out I wasn't applying it properly. Note to others, do apply in the same fashion as wood stain and expect the same results. Keda. Maybe consider including instructions for application or direct users to your videos. Had I known that, I'm sure it would have worked fine. I actually went back and ordered more product now that I know what to do. I admit, it was my mistake. Upgrading my review to 5 stars (with an * ;)) so as to not detract from what appears to be a great product, but had user error. I'm still pushing for application instructions to be readily provided though.
Review: Blue dye - This product worked absolutely beautifully on a gun stock. It turned a boring colored stock into a one of a kind piece of beauty.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this be used on metal? I want to apply a translucent finish to polished steel or aluminum**
A: You could tint a sealer like lacquer with the dyes, and spray that over the polished steel which would create a translucent finish over the the steel. I would also spray 1-2 coats of clear over the top of the tinted sealer to help protect the steel finish, as well as prevent any color chipping and add depth.

**Q: With isopropyl alchohol unavailable at the moment could i use an ethyl alchohol like vodka as a substitute?**
A: Not sure about ethyl alcohol, but when times are tight I use water. The concentrations are a little different, but will work in a pinch. I’ve been using keda for 2 years now and love it. Hope this help.

**Q: I want to die some oak for flooring inlays and need to apply polyurethane after. Does it matter what I mix with and what is wait time before poly?**
A: Once the wood stain dye has dried, you can pretty much apply any sealer over the top. Poly will work very well for your project. As for mixing the liquid dyes, they will mix with just about anything except oil base. The liquid dyes are designed for non oil based solvent bases like lacquer thinner, denatured alcohol, acetone, etc. but will work with water as well. For a floor, I would recommend going with a denatured alcohol, or acetone to prevent any possible creeks in the floor later on. These reagents will also dry very fast, and will give a good dye penetration into the hard wood. Hope that helps out. Dyed floors really look very nice, congrats!

**Q: Where is this manufactured and where are the ingredients sourced from?**
A: Contact the seller for complete information.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Blue dye

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Keda powder is great, but their liquid is Awesome
*by M***. on April 5, 2018*

Ive tried both liquid and powder versions, alone and mixed, and found this gives much better results than a similar color stain be it oil or water-based, (although the latter isnt difficult to surpass... ) The liquid does seem to give a more vivid and clear finished product, so i would go with it if given the option, but if cost is an issue, powder works just fine. I went with blue liquid and then used some powder i had left to make some rich dark blue-green and navy blue colors. Mixed red, yellow, and brown powders to get an almost blood red that changes to orange at lighter parts of the grain. I also used the liquid blue and powder black separately on a wall mount for a dragon i bought recently. Ill add pics when i get the time.
