They would work fine for several weeks to months but then would always fail or only work intermittently.I decided to try a powered device and this was the most affordable one I could find.I have had it in my water garden since 12/14 and it has worked very well.I did have trouble with the sensor several weeks ago and the company replaced it without question. In fact , they shipped one out as soon as I notified them I was having trouble. The unit itself has a 3 year warranty which is also nice.Much more dependable than the typical passive float type systems, but a lot less expensive than the commercial powered setups out there.UPDATE 6/15/17I have downgraded this device from 5 stars to 3. I have also removed it from my water garden since I could not get it working properly for any length of time.I initially purchased this on Amazon 12/18/14.
