There was no way to fix it and you can't really sew without the tension thread so I had to throw it out (return date had expired). So I went back online and found the MagicFly mini sewing machine which was about $5 less than what I paid for this Singer machine and I like the MagicFly much better. You can tell it's well made, a little bigger and heavier than the Singer but seems to be a better quality made machine than the Singer. It's a shame because I really thought that given it was a Singer machine it would be more sturdy. Guess I was wrong. Also, didn't like the fact that it did not come with the A/C adaptor. Which meant I had to pay extra and purchase it separately.
