You take some into your hands and rub them to soften it up and make it easy to apply to your hair. It gives you plenty of time to work into your hair and style it how you want. It sets well and holds your hair in place for pretty much an entire day. I didn't notice any shininess from it. I didn't have any problems washing it out of my hair. It also has a pleasant citrus-like scent.It is fairly high price, being at the top end of the hair clay / pomade price range. It only has 2.7 ounces of product compared to the 3.0 ounces and higher of most others.
