Do you wash container before adding spices ?

I did, but don't buy this device. I bought two of them and it was a bad investment. Broke off the carousel mount (both of them, right around the return expired). Containers not tightly sealed, every spice became moist. Good idea bad execution.

One spice containers showed up missing the clear plastic cylinder that controls the release of the spices when the dial is turned, can it be replaced?

What's the difference between select-a-spice classic and select-a-pro?
