OLFA 18mm Heavy-Duty Utility Knife (L-2) - Rubber Inset, Snap-Off Blade

I have nothing but good things to say about this knife because of its quality and because it really is much better than the one I had before. I really like the ratchet wheel for securing the blade at the length you want it. It doesn't have the usual click steps like many snap knives do but I am okay with that because it allows me to set the length wherever I want it. Once tightened down with the ratchet screw the blade is very secure and will not pull forward when cutting like the other cheepo one I have. The knife feels comfortable in my and hand and I feel safe using it for what what it was designed for. I am sure this will not be the last OLFA product I buy from now on.

Great quality, very solid. I can tell it's made in Japan. Heavy plastic and rubberized handle. Very solid. Comfortable to hold. I only wish it was possible to have a tab to retract the blade in and out easily. The screw wheel takes a while to screw and unscrew. But I am still very happy with the product.

These work so great, I bought several more, to make sure one is on hand no matter where I am, at work or at home. I now have to label them all with my name, though, because everyone who uses them seems to try to walk away with them!!! It is comfortable and easy to use, even when wearing heavy duty work gloves. The blades are sharp and last a long time, but snapping off the old sections is easy. And replacement blades are readily available and affordable. The hole in the handle is really handy for attaching cables, tool lanyards, etc.

I spent thousands over the last year on tools for various projects. Of all the tools, this knife was the best purchase I made. I couldn't be happier. Ive owned this for one full year now. I bought a separate 50 pack of blades and probably have 40 left. That's about 5$ in blades on some tough material over the course of a year. Replacing blades is easy, length adjustment is simple and confidence inspiring. Nothing has ever slipped and Ive never had the sense that it would. Having snap off blades saves a lot of money and is super quick and convenient. If you already have a proper solution, perhaps you dont need this. But if youre looking for an adjustable knife with affordable blade replacements I highly recommend this. Tool of the year from my persepctive!

This is a sturdy, well-thought design. Feels solid in the hand with a nice rubber-ish grip. I use that term because whatever material they used has not absorbed a bunch of skin oil and dirt and is not deteriorating. The blades snap off cleanly. What's not to like?

So far, I'm very satisfied with the performance of this utility knife. It has a very sturdy feel and seems to be well-constructed. The blade is very sharp! The only downside for me is the dial. It's a bit tedious to keep dialing it up or down to lock and release the blade. Maybe I'd be better off with the push button control. (Next time.)

I was first introduced to these while employed in a digital printing and print mounting lab. These far surpassed using standard utility knives. Rather than having to take a knife apart to change a blade these allowed us to just snap them off and be ready to go within seconds. They also enable the user to extend the blade further out for cutting things like foam that has some thickness to it. I highly recommend them.

I’ve been using this model for years. I love it and can’t recommend it enough. My only recommendation is be very careful while using in wet and oily conditions as these knives have no grip whatsoever. It’s a good size and weight and is extremely versatile. I recommend buying extra blades with the knife so you don’t need to run to Home Depot randomly in the middle of doing work. Another recommendation is try to keep it out of your shirt pocket as the blades will rust from condensation from your body heat.
