Review: Test plug and socket tester for caravan 13 pin connections. - Purchased this because I recently had a new 13 pin plug fitted to my caravan by the service engineer. Unfortunately the plug just fell apart when we were on a camp site. So having a few spare wires and the indicator lights not working, rather than risk blowing the electrical system on my car, I purchased on of these testers. Does the job very well and sorted my problem out without having to connect the car to the caravan, and risk damaging my car electrics. It checks the wiring circuits on the caravan to the plug ok, but it will not check the light bulbs are working.

Wanted to check electric socket on my car. A simple multi meter didn't show a permanent live to the socket so decided to get a proper tester. When I plugged it in the display faced away from me and I couldn't read it (due to retractable towbar). I had an extension cable and tried it with that but still no power indicated. Then plugged the caravan in and it did show power, although switched and perminate are the wrong way round as stated in previousl reviews. I guess it needs something earthed for it to operated the Can Bus detection system to work. Not perfect but put my mind at rest.
