I got my 1 zone wifi Rainpoint water timer the same day I ordered it from Amazon. It is the end of our watering season hear in Minneapolis, we've had a good freezer already, but we had a beautiful weekend in the 70s so I used the wifi valve timer to water our many trees one last time. It was easy to setup and use. We are in the middle of a severe dry period and one last watering seemed like a good idea. We have a Google Mesh wifi system with 3 mesh transmitters. I downloaded the Rain point App with no problem on my android phone and set up an account. It took a couple of tries to get the wifi to recognize the Rainpoint wifi hub but it did. I was a little worried because Google Mesh system is dual band 2 and 5 MHz, but the hub and then the valve and socket all showed up. I played with the programming options but will go into them in depth a bit more next spring and report back. I have set up 4 zones in the front of our house and 3 in the back. I have used electronic programmable timers but this is my first wifi timer. I have 5 drip and soaker irrigation zones and two lawn Sprinkler zones on the timers. I currently have two new and one-1 year old Rainpoint dual zone timers and an older single zone timer that I used this year. In the past I've had Orbit timers and found that they last from 2 - 5 years . This new wifi timer is something I had hoped would be available to replace the self programmed timers. It is much easier to adjust the timer parameters on a phone then on a timer on a hose spigot. There are also multiple new parameters (rain, soil moisture, etc) that can be factored into the timing program. I am glad the system is expandable and hope to eventually have all of the zones on the system. I will update my review next spring when our garden season resumes. So far, I've been very pleased with all of the timers I've gotten from Rainpoint. They work well, are reasonably priced and the warranty and email support are great. My gardening is very dependent on watering timers so I will be updating this review with feedback on the timers. Update.12/19/2022: I added a second timer to my rainpoint system. The wifi connection was straightforward and works as expected with no problems. I'm looking forward to next Spring to try out all the controls. I am very pleased with how easy adding the second timer was.

I have plants that I want to maintain in different locations. I've been using a stand alone water timer made by the same company which works well for turning the water on and off, and running a schedule (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0BNH8RP69) but it doesn't allow me to monitor remotely or change parameters without pushing buttons on the device itself. The WiFi controlled water timer and the included RF (radio frequency) Hub allow for lots more flexibility, control, and measurement of my irrigation, and also allows me to add extras such as a sensor to monitor soil temperature and humidity. Setup of the System is easy (I followed the detailed instructions in the printed manual, but there's also a link to a setup video); you'll need a WiFi Router that operates on the 2.4 GHz frequency, and 4 AA batteries for the Water Timer (the yellow & gray device with the hose connections). The app for my android phone was available on the Google Play store (iPhone app is available on the App Store), so I downloaded it, opened it on my phone, and followed the instructions to connect the app to the router. Next I followed the instructions to connect the Hub (the oval device with the outlet), then installed the batteries into the Water Timer, and followed the instructions for pairing the Water Timer to the Hub. (Note that the Water Timer communicates with the Hub, and the Hub communicates with your Router, so the Water Timer doesn't directly pair with the router.) The RainPoint software that runs on my phone is intuitive and easy to operate; From the Main "Parameter" menu, it lets me know how many gallons (or liters) of water have been used, the battery status, whether the water is running or not, and the next scheduled irrigation. From the "Irrigation control" menu, I can choose between 1 and 60 minutes of irrigation, and from the "Plan" menu, I can set my watering schedule and implement rain delays if desired. (See screenshot photos of the different app pages including a screenshot from the "Sensor" page - which is available if a sensor is added to the system.) In playing with the system, I discovered that some of the features are really helpful for remote monitoring, for instance, the Water Timer not only turns the water on and off, but it measures the water usage. I thought I had an error in the software or device because there was no water usage showing on the main menu page; it turns out I had turned off the spigot that feeds the Water Timer. My neighbor lost three palm trees last year because her house renters turned off the spigot that irrigated the lawn! I also like that the app sends me push alerts on my phone letting me know when the system is active and when it stops. Additionally, the Hub has an integral 110 volt outlet that can be controlled by the RainPoint app so that devices such as grow lights can be activated -the software even has a built-in timer function for this outlet. I included a screenshot of the readings from the sensor, because I found that it was really helpful to have this device in the remote controlled system. I will review the sensor separately. Suffice to say, this is a powerful system with lots of options I've not even mentioned. I was pleased to get more control over my irrigation system and be able to operate it remotely for about $30-35 more than a non-Wifi based system ($60 - $65 if the Sensor is added). I consider myself to be fairly technically proficient, however, with all emerging technologies there are little hiccups, both with the product and with user error, so I also had a chance to communicate with RainPoint's Customer Service. They were responsive and helpful, in answering my questions both by telephone and by email.

Needing wireless connectivity with Alexa integration, I took the plunge and bought three RainPoint WiFi timers, and I've been pretty happy with them so far. SETUP: It was easy enough to set up and integrate with Alexa. You have the option to use either the RainPoint app or the SmartLife app (or was it Tuya? I can't remember). I was a bit confused about which app I should use, but ultimately I chose the RainPoint app. First you register the WiFi wall-outlet in the app, then you sync each Sprinkler Timer to it. From there, you enable the RainPoint app within Alexa, and BOOM...Alexa can now turn each sprinkler on/off. "Alexa, turn on the Front Yard Sprinkler". I love it. WiFi WALL OUTLET: I'm not a big fan of the WiFi wall outlet. It's fairly bulky and doesn't look attractive on the wall. I would have preferred some sort of dongle or hub that can sit unobtrusively on a shelf. You can plug a device into the outlet and power can be toggled on/off by pressing a button on the front of the outlet. A blue light illuminates to indicate whether the outlet is providing power to the device. One nice feature is that you can wirelessly toggle the outlet on/off through the RainPoint app. Unfortunately, at the time of this review, the WiFi outlet can NOT be controlled through Alexa (the sprinkler timers CAN, but the outlet CANNOT, which is strange). It's a bit of a pain to open the RainPoint app every time I want to toggle the outlet, so I just don't use that feature, which is a huge waste of an opportunity for an Alexa controlled outlet. USER INTERFACE: I'll be honest, the user interface is so robust it can actually be a bit confusing. I'm a fairly technical person (not SUPER technical), but I don't even mess with half the features because I don't totally know what I'm doing. I'm sure a power-user will appreciate the ability to create custom programs, but I just use it to create simple daily schedules. The "simple" irrigation controls allow you to set up to 3 times per sprinkler (ex: morning, afternoon, night). Power users can probably create even more complex routines. Wi-Fi Timers: I worry about these sitting outside in the sun all day, hopefully the heat won't destroy them. But I've had these for about 3 months now, and so far so good. Each timer has a physical button that you can press to make it turn on if you want to run water outside of the timed schedule. If you press the button too quickly, it doesn't seem to register, so I find I have to give it a "slow" press. One one occasion, one of my timers had a red flashing light and the app indicated it could not connect, but the issue resolved itself. Maybe it just lost signal to the WiFi outlet? Overall, these are very easy to use and they seem reliable. I have not had to change the batteries yet (after 3 months). SUPPORT: I emailed the company to ask about Alexa connectivity for the Wifi Outlet. They were very responsive and helpful. It seems like a startup company, and I was impressed at the friendliness and customer service. OVERALL: I've been very happy with this purchase and will likely purchase more devices as the need arises. I only docked a few points from the overall rating due to lack of Alexa control for the WiFi outlet, and the robust user interface is possibly too advanced for some folks.

The software/app appears to not been sufficiently tested to the point that makes this nearly useless. I'm familiar with Tuya apps, but this one needs work! First, I nearly gave up and returned the unit after setup at least a dozen times. Yes, I was on a 2.4 Ghz wifi net, good signal. Suddenly the hub started to connect. After creating yet another account, and configuring my geographic location, instructions to set up a timer are not intuitive nor obvious given instructions. After Consulting the internet in Reading what other users had done I finally got the timer configured. Next, setting up the rain delay - one of the reasons why this type of valve is useful. I set up the "smart" automation but after all-day rains, the automation never triggers, and your plants are now in a swamp. You have to remember to manually set the rain delay which is 3 taps into the app. However you can set up a custom action to trigger a simple rain delay MANUALLY. After a few weeks, the flow meter just stopped working, although you can hear the meter while close to the valve. One more feature gone which defeats the point of buying this "smart" system. Finally, the valve is a solenoid which means the valve is not gradually opened thus your plumbing is at risk from water hammer. In some situations, this can fatigue pipe joints and blow out irrigation parts. Other higher quality vendors use valves that gradually open the valve, protecting your plumbing and irrigation system components. For this unit, I had to install a water hammer arrestor after testing pressure spikes. In sum, poor execution makes this "Smart" system a dumb solution. Basic features work after persevering through the setup, but you can buy a much better controller for much less money and hassle!

I previously used another brand of water timers for my raised bed irrigation system, but it was a pain to go outside to add a watering cycle, rain delay, or pause watering. I decided to try a wifi system and the Rainpoint were well reviewed and reasonably priced. Following the directions, I installed the app first, then the irrigation hub, then the water timers. Everything connected first time to the 2.4GHz side of my wireless network. I followed the "bench test" procedure of the timers to be sure the valves operated freely before applying water pressure, then hooked them up to my hose manifold. They feel solidly constructed and don't leak a drop. The single weatherproof button on the timer manually turns the valve on and off, but the beauty is being able to set everything up and monitor the system from my couch ... no more going outside in the rain to enter a rain delay. The outlet on the hub also has a wifi timer outlet that can also be controlled through the app, which was a nice surprise. They up the warranty from one to five years of you register online. I've been watering for a week now with no problems. The app is pretty basic but does what it needs and has a flow meter that tracks water usage ap I can really tailor the watering program to the plant's needs. I plan to get another timer for my deck boxes and the moisture meter to remotely monitor soil moisture and use it to control watering. Rainpoint really nailed the design so I hope it lasts a long time.

In the past I've made my own homebrew IoT irrigation systems but having moved house I wanted something a little more professional without breaking the bank. It only arrived today, but it took me just a few mins to hook up and I've completed my first watering without a problem. Love the smart scheduling features, especially the sunrise / sunset + offset trackers. Seen lots of complaints about not supporting dual band WiFi and even the product page says it doesn't. Well it does - but you need to use the alternate connection method that involves resetting the device until you get a slow blink (not a fast one) and then you connect to the device hotspot directly. This enables your phone to transfer the WiFi credentials to the device and from there you're off to the races. I like the features, the price-point is pretty good and it means we can go away on vacation with some degree of confidence that the garden won't go bone dry in our absence.

This is a great unit for the price. The valve closes softer than my non smart Rain Bird water timer. It has a water flow meter that works but I need to rig a test to see how accurate it is. The unit is attractive and is compact so you can line up sever on a multi tap. I am slightly worried about all plastic body breaking. Setup was easy and the app is great but BE WARNED when setting the amount of time those units are H/M for Hours and Minutes. It is labeled correctly but I blindly assumed it was in Minutes and Seconds because why would you ever need to set an irrigation timer for more than 1 hour? I have not tried the Mist timer option yet and we will have to see if it holds up year after year. If I get 5 to 10 years out of it I will be happy.

Este es el segundo equipo de Rainpoint que compro, lo utilizo para hacer un sistema de riego por goteo en forma automática, porque no tengo oportunidad de regar mis jardines, de hecho en la misma aplicación instalé dos sistemas en dos domicilios diferentes y esta funcionando bien. Le doy tres recomendaciones: 1) Si no se quiere conectar el hub a su wifi de internet, chequen con otro router, puesto que a mi se me dificultó con un router pero cuando use otro no tuve ningún problema. 2) Si les es posible consigan un convertidor de 6 volts 2 Amperes de corriente alterna a corriente directa, para sustituir las 4 pilas AA de 1.5 cada una. Pregunten a algún experto cómo se puede conectar. 3) Conecten el temporizador a la conexión 110v del hub, esto es para que cuando se desenlace el temporizador del hub, ustedes puedan volver a enlazarlo por vía remota, utilizando la app, apagando unos minutos la conexión 110v del hub y luego volviendo a conectar por medio de la aplicación, para que vuelva a enlazarse el temporizador al hub.

If you know how to add a wifi light, its easy to install and the app is well made. My schedule can delay 24h watering when meteo announce rain. Very useful. Also, the gateway is also a wifi outlet.

It worked well at first, but went off line and I could not get it back on line. The app reported that the hub was connected but it would not find the water valve. Went to support and they concluded the water valve was faulty and they would replace it. After that all I got was the runaround. No replacement. They said they did not have a record of the sale. I sent a copy of my invoice . No reply. I gave up.

Attention. Ce produit est problématique à intégrer au réseau wifi J’ai essayé de l’intégrer au réseau sans succès au cours de l’été. Le contrôle fonctionne à merveille manuellement mais impossible de le contrôler autrement. J’ai acheté des prises wifi chinoise bas de gamme dans les mêmes fréquences qui se sont installées en quelques secondes. De l’argent jeté à l’eau. Très mal pensé comme système.
