They were comfortable to walk in and after a few days including some decent walks they are one of the most comfortable shoes I've worn. The sole is a bit thicker then regular Doc's, almost as tall as my 1460 bex. I've walked on an icy sidewalk and never felt like I'd slip or lose footing.
