I am happy to say that this product made prepping the walls almost easy. The hardest part was getting the ladder out and moving it around the kitchen. It magically dissolved grime that had accumulated in a triangular void between cabinets near the cooking surface over a 20+ year period. Seriously, spray it on a section of wall, and by the time you return to where you started (up and down the ladder, etc.), it has softened accumulated grease and grime so that it just wipes away on a paper towel. If pretty clean, one may be enough. It doesn't take a lot to prep the surface . I did about 20 cabinets with doors and drawers and still had 1/3 bottle left. **Q: I see this works on painted surfaces. I have 40 yr old varnished, glossy kitchen cabinets. How will it work to remove the gloss & prep for painting?** A: Krud Kutter has a different product to use. Krud Kutter De-glosser. This is a good product because it does a couple of things at once. It cleans, kills the mold spores, and deglosses the surface. It would be best to use the de-glosser first, lightly sand, and then wipe once more with the de-glosser to be extra safe. Not all primers will work that well. You may want to use a special paint for doing Kitchen cabinets like BreakThrough by PPG paints. What you want is something that dries hard and adheres well, without sticking. In the industry, they call it "Non-blocking" which means it resists sticking. Oil paint does this well, but has many drawbacks, so I would go with a non blocking water based paint. You can probably skip the primer with the Breakthrough as long as you follow the steps I mentioned earlier. The prepaint version actually cleans and softens the painted surface and increases new paint adhesion to the old surface. I've used the prepaint product multiple times on kitchen cabinets and exterior window frames and it does a great job. **Q: How does this compare to Wil-Bond?** A: I have never used Wil-Bond but for paint prep this stuff is the BEST! If you have ever attempted to properly repaint cabinets before, you know it’s a PROCESS! this cleaner is absolutely wonderful! It thoroughly cleans all of the dirt, grime and grease off of the cabinets to prep them for light sanding, then pruning and finally painting the new color you wish to paint your cabinets. I first tried a different cabinet cleaner product which was recommended to us on one cabinet and it hardly cleaned the cabinet at all and I knew I needed to order something different so I did some research and came across this wonderful product. Make sure to follow the directions on the back of the bottle and first moisten a rag with the product, spray the cabinet with the product, wipe the cabinet with your rag, then wipe with a dry rag and finally let each side dry for 10 minutes before moving to the opposite side. You will be amazed at how much dirt, oil and grime collects on your cabinets! I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone looking to repaint their cabinets.
