They usually congregate on top of the tube, and sometimes jump out. I would say about 1-5% of the crickets try to jump out. The escapees typically climb up the side of the cage to which my chameleon, Dr. Mantis Toboggan, gets them anyways. Sometimes they burrow in the reptibark I use. I think the feeder is great though **Q: Can dubias escape?** A: I believe they can. It’s hard to say though because I don’t sit and watch them. But I’ve found dubias at later times that resembled the size of the ones in this feeder. I do add tasty food though, in hopes they won’t want too. You could place this feeder inside a plastic Tupperware container or something, add the roaches and then wait a day, come back and see if any are in the Tupperware container instead of the feeder **Q: Is it possible to teach a chameleon to hunt?** A: You don’t need to teach a chameleon to do anything. Anything it should do, it does. Through 5 million years of evolution. My son has a pair of bearded dragons and it's perfect for them.This feeder can be either hung from a hook or stood on the floor of your reptile's terrarium. Either way it works really well as long as your lizard can reach it.This is a good sized item with the bowl measuring 14.98 cm wide x 6.6 cm deep and the column measuring 20 cm in height. The chain is sturdy and strong and measures 62 cm in length.The idea is that you fill the feeder with your choice of insects and as they climb up the mesh column your reptiles see them and catch them. This makes your (especially inactive) lizards actually work for their food.
