I used it in my sub zero 532 that requires a 15 minute defrost period every 24 hours. Most other timers out there are fixed to have either 15 or 20 minute defrost cycles every 6 or 8 hours and this would be very inefficient, energy wise, for my freezer. Consult your service manual to find what defrost cycle your freezer requires based on its dssign. ### ⭐⭐ Bad design, bad engineering. *by S***S on October 13, 2016* This timer doesn't have any memory of its cycle status. So when power outage occurs even for 1 sec. it resets itself and begins "refrigerator" cycle from from scratch. So if you live in the area with frequent daily power outages chances are "defrost" cycle will never start. OEM mechanical timers simply continue the cycle after the outage. Going to return it. Already got Supco EDT10 universal electronic timer which is 3 times more expensive but it does have 6 hours memory when power outage occurs. Cycle memory is very important issue.Also this device has reset button and 2 LEDs. Well Articco put them on the wrong side of the timer! Its shape mimics OEM timer so you are forced to mount it in one particular way which prevents you to see LEDs and to access reset button once it is mounted! Most refrigerators have defrost timers mounted at the very bottom inside metal box right behind low air grille. Most fridges have small hole to access electronic reset button or mechanical timer advance knob. So with Articco stupid design you won't be able to access it.
