The Christmas Tree was first written in 1996. I am fortunate to have found this twentieth-anniversary edition for Kindle.The author says she was hoping to write a story that adults and children would enjoy. So this is not a book written specifically for early readers. But it works very well as the sort of book parents might read to their children.The head gardener at Rockefeller Center in New York has the job of finding the perfect Christmas tree every year. One year he heard about a tree at a convent in the prettiest part of New Jersey and went out to take a look at it. It was a very good tree, but one of the nuns was particularly attached to it and wasn’t ready to let it go yet. She told the gardener the story of how she first came to the convent as a child and befriended the tree when it was a sapling. The gardener made it a point to not come between people and their trees, so he abandoned the idea of that tree for that year, but he became friends with the nun, and over a period of several years, he heard more of her story and in a way became part of the story. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My favorite Christmas novella *by P***R on Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2018* The story of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree as told from the chief gardener's perspective. Very sweet and charming short book. It was made into a Hallmark TV movie years ago with Julie Harris. Have your kleenex handy - you'll need it!Very interesting and a wonderful good-read for Christmas time!
