Is the hand grip area pretty much perpendicular to the bike? My entire objection is to not have to angle my wrist to grip the bars.

I would say they sit at a natural angle for the wrist to rest at, maybe 6° or so back. Dead straight actually puts your wrist at an uncomfortable angle, as my lowrider bike apehangers bars are straight. I prefer these bars.

will these work on a gas mini bike?

I don't see why not. As long as they fit in the stem, they can be used. I needed shims for my cruiser, and now it looks and feels great!

If i go from brahma style handle bars on a beach cruser how likely would it be that i have to change the cables on the brakes and shifter?

It depends on what type of cruiser you have, first measure how long your brake and shift cables are, then measure the height of the new bars that you are getting, if you come up To short, then you need to buy new cables, if you don’t know how to do it, take it to a bike shop, and they will do everything for you, installation on cables and new bars, that’s what I did, came out perfect, hope this will help you, Levi, plus you need to buy handle bars shims
