The embossed area is only on the outer edge and it very elegant - which made me think it will go with the christmas prints nicely and it does. I changed from super heavy ironstone dishes set years ago because they were just too heavy to be lifting in and out of the cupboard. I whose Corelle as my every day and special occasion dishware. I've never looked back. Lightweight, but extremely durable. Dishwasher, micro safe. I am very happy with these embossed luncheon plates - although I do hope one day they expand the holiday size options!
