Go far enough back in an Arabian pedigree and the term DB/desert bred signify the horses that came direct from the Bedouin. Carl Raswan's books Drinkers of the Wind and Black Tents of Arabia delve into his quest for the Arabian horse in the desert. Beware current revisionist history that tries to change the origins of the breed or claim that other breeds of horses pre-date the Arabian. *Forbis was a strong believer in the Egyptian bloodlines but that does not detract from the historical aspects of this book. All Arabians originally came from the desert tribes no matter which country or individual currently breeds them. I personally have been involved with Arabians for 60 years. The author is a super expert in arabian horses and the content of the book brings the historical basis of the breed as well as the origin of main bloodlines (straight Egyptian). The text is very well written.
