My phone doesn't always connect automatically, but I'm almost certain it's my phone's fault, I have the same issue with my phone connecting to other bluetooth devices. I also need to keep my phone at about 1/2-3/4 volume, any higher and the sound quality drops, but the sound out of the receiver is fine, and pretty loud - I have the factory RF 5 disc stereo in my truck and keep the volume level 5-10 with bluetooth/aux. Oh, and the sticky adhesive on the back is very strong, line it up before you stick it... Mine's a bit crooked.
