the vertical adjustment does not have teeth in it to hold the setting.  if u use the side bar to rest on your leg it works loose.  i had to put a neoprene washer in it do lock it down tight enough so that it wouldn't keep slipping but that didnt work so i replaced it with a Bee Stinger
