She was just starting to really be interested in mommy's jewelry box along with the items inside, so I thought she'd really enjoy one of her own to put her own jewelry in. When I opened it up I realized immediately that this is not a toy for a small child. This is a beautiful and delicately made jewelry box intended for older girls, probably ages 5 or 6 and up(depending on the child I supposed). My daughter's great grandfather buys her diamond rings every calendar holiday so this is the perfect little jewelry box to store them until she is older. It is not a very sturdy box, I don't think it was made to be played hard with by young children. So if you are looking for a jewelry box for a toddler or child under 5 this is not the one to buy, it is too delicate. It is absolutely beautiful and whimsical, perfect for that "little princess" and her room. I found it to be a great buy, especially for the price, the construction has an antique feel to it and it is small enough to sit on a bureau or on a shelf and it one of the few boxes I have found to be "classically pretty", since everything lately is cartoon related somehow, and is also timeless and won't be outgrown for a long time. Long story short - I'd buy it again. It is small but cute and was appropriate for a young girl as her first jewelry box.
