Your press the needed amount into either your upper or lower denture. Then you press the denture onto your gums as usual (taking a mold of your gums) remove your denture and allow to cool completely. My mistake was continuing to wear it while the putty was still warm. You can save any excess and use for future refittings. I have had mine a year and a half but would recommend replacing every 6 to 9 months. You can reshape multiple times. After it cools and sets, it isn't gooey. It can peel off the denture and be cleaned with lookwarm water.
