Review: This pretty little gadget is clearly like a so-waited Birthday-gift! - I live in Hungary (Eastern-Europe), and already have a 4K UHD Blu-ray player from an other Japanese electronic equipment producer. But that player plays only European B2 Blu-ray and DVD 2 region coded Discs - fortunately the 4K Discs don't have region code! I have a bit special taste in movies, because usually I don't care mainstream productions or cult-films - just some. But the movie distribution (on disc), is total mess, and a hardly understandable process. For example: "Madame Bovary" (Mia Wasikowska), on Blu-ray Disc, released at US 2 years earlier than in Europe, or "Rust Creek" (Hermione Corfield), is released on BD just in the USA. Finally, my third favourite actress (beside Mia Wasikowska and Saoirse Ronan), Kate Lyn Sheil's movies are barely available at my continent. Therefore I need to buy movies from America, or just now Australia! But US released movies have A1 BD and DVD 1, Australian released have DVD 4 region code. So, I had no choice, I must bought a region-code-free Blu-ray player, which I got only in the USA. This unit is the most simple in SONY's budget player range. A small, lightweight, rectangular box, with hidden tray, two button (on/off and open/close), an USB port on front - there’s no display. On rear: connector for external power supply, a single HDMI, an ethernet socket (for smart functions which I don't use), and a coaxial-digital (audio) output. Latter was important to me, cause without this, there would have been no sound for my stereo setup. I needed some accessories: US/EU connector adapter (the unit works with all voltage), coax-digital cable, DAC, RCA cable-pair, but after I bought and connected everything, a miracle happened: I could watch my American Discs! This is an used unit (demo-player by the seller), but I got it pristine condition and for friendly price ($89). The configuration is fast with the simple menu. The player reading Discs in no time. But most important test is the picture quality, what is better than I expected from a budget player! With Blu-ray Discs almost perfect - my UHD-BD player is more sophisticated unit, and it cost four times as much, than the SONY, but latter yet competitive, compared the more expensive player. This is true also with DVD, considering the lower-resolution of the format. (The unit doesn't have upscaler, but my TV has one, therefore anything alright!) My sole problem is the remote. I don't have big hands or sausage-fingers, but the remote yet too small, with tiny buttons - for example the pause-button, which I frequently use. And, I can't understand, why not has all Blu-ray/DVD player backlit remote in the 21th century? If you want some like these, you can pay $600 or more! It's simply ridiculous. In sum: this is a little box, with full of surprise! Simple, practical, competitive compared also higher quality standard. Finally solved my old problem with region codes. This purchase was one of the most smart decision of my life! I'm so pleased with this gadget. Recommended for all, who like simple, and good-working things.
Review: NOT ALL REGION! Only Region 1/A!!! FALSE ADVERTISING!! - This product claims to be an all region player that works for discs from around the world in the title and description, but the plate on the bottom says it only works for region 1 DVDs and region A Blu-ray Discs! I tested my international DVDs and it doesn’t recognize them. This product is mislabeled and I’m going to be getting a full refund because this is not the product that I intended to purchase based on the “All Region” description! False advertising! Also, the box was damaged with hole poked in the middle and there is staining on one corner of the box, seemingly from some liquid damage in transit.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: This obviously is a modified player. does it still come with a full Sony warranty?**
A: The player is unlocked the warranty is void - it comes with the seller warranty

**Q: Will this player work to play dvds w/o an intenet connection?**
A: Yes it does. Mine works fine without ever have been conected to the internet.

**Q: i seen a review on here that someone said it well play any normal dvd from anywhere in the world just fine but it wont do the same with blue ray movie**
A: I have played both region A and region B dvds. The machine default is region A. To change to either region B or C you need to first open the drive slot and while empty depress the blue button for region B and red button for region C. If you need to switch to region A without turning the machine off depress the yellow button. There should have been a separate sheet with these instructions included with the machine.

**Q: What is the model number for the remote control if I need to buy a replacement?**
A: RMT-B126A - Also, as a note, I have a Sony BDP-S560 Blu-Ray Player and that remote also will interact with the S1200 as well as the S1200 remote interacts with the BDP-560. The reason I am telling you this is should you have another Sony device with a remote control you may find both remotes interacting with both devices. This can be a hassle when you're wanting to watch something using the S1200 and every time you turn it on by its remote the other device comes on as well. Just FYI.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Satisfaction found sufficient.

Totally worth it. After a boxed set of Blakes 7 was found to not function on my existing disc player due to regional restrictions! Tried some suggested hacks which proved to not work in my case. Price was low anyway.
