Review: Five Stars - Its fun to play with this kit... even for an adult
Review: In this season's lockdown, get your kids to take a break from screens & electronics and have them experience the real world by exploring these magnetic adventures. This has plenty of experiments & some games that are fun and educational. The included booklet not only explains how to setup the experiments but also gives a good summary of the concepts, so you dont need to send them back to screens for researching. It definitely suits 8+ but there are some experiments which 7 will enjoy, like the infamous levitating rings & some fun with iron bits. They can then grow into this. Now the hard part. Experiments require some movements (like moving hands & eyes & using your brain) which children nowdays are not used to, so parents need to work with the kids to at least start things off. Note that, these 30+ experiments are not meant to be completed in a single go. Do, one or two at a time to keep kids interested.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: what age is this appropriate for**
A: Naturally, each child is different, but generally this set is appropriate for elementary aged children. The value of this kit is greatly magnified by a teacher or adult that is guiding the learning experience.

**Q: How many magnets come in this kit?**
A: My kits are in my classroom, but from my memory there are: 5 small disk magnets and 1 magnetized pole, 3 ball magnets, 1 horseshoe magnet with magnetic keeper, small dish of iron filings, small steel rod and wire for making electromagnets, bag of plastic disks with metal around circumference, the book and a 2.5 inch styrofoam disk for one of the experiments in the book, also has a cardboard magnetic field measurement chart. Hope this helps. :D

**Q: Does this have any experiments meant to convey the concept of magnetic pull force?**
A: Yes, it definitely has, with different types of magnets. Overall a very well done and instructive experiment set for youngsters.

**Q: What is the strength of the electromagnet?**
A: I'm not sure if you're looking for a specific measurement. If so- I don't know. The biggest magnet is about twice as strong as a kitchen magnet. Some of the others are about the same power. It was easy for my then six year old to use and he enjoyed it.

This kit contains numerous items: horseshoe magnet, bar magnet, 4 x round magnets, a vertical stand (to hold the round magnets), iron filings, etc. They are fairly small items but my daughter is 5 years old and loved using them, under close supervision. The booklet that comes with it gives a variety of experiments/demonstrations that you can easily do with your child and they would all naturally lead on to wanting to create/explore more complex ones later on. My only gripe (if that) would be that the manual covers only the very basics of each experiment so I chose to supplement it with another book so that I fully understood what was going on each time. I therefore felt more confident answering my daughter's questions as well as explaining the process in a slightly different way than the printed booklet, which helped her to grasp it better. This is such a great starting point for anyone who is interested in science and I would thoroughly recommend it.
