It's not cheaply made and is just the right size for my desk. I put it on first thing in the morning for half an hour. It has an automatic shut off after 30 minutes. This brand was recommended to me from two people who really liked it. Unlike the cheaper ones, this has the 10,000 lux emitted at 20-24 inches away. I checked into a lot of these before I bought this and some said 6-8 inches (that is not reasonable for me to sit that close) and had lower lux. So, if you are shopping for one, make sure you look at those things. You only need 15-30 minutes with this model. On sunny days, I don't notice a big difference, but the dreary, rainy mornings it really boosts me and I love the warmth on my face. It was brighter than I expected, and you aren't supposed to look at it directly, so you have to angle it, but I got used to it.
