He has had four top-20 hits in the United States (including three that went to number one on Billboard's adult contemporary chart and one that went to number one on the R&B chart) along with four platinum-certified albums. His music sometimes features Cajun and Creole influences. This album is dedicated to the families of victims, survivors, emergency workers and volunteers in the Gulf Coast region whose lives were forever changed by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The title of this CD says it all.  A beautiful classic of the best songs ever written and sung by the original artist and how Aaron brought it home with his unique style.  This is one of the best recordings I have purchased.  Every track is good.👍

    Almost too smooth

This is a great collection of soul/r&b standards. I've listened to them since they first came out,and have played them all in various bands for the past 40 years. The overall impression ofthis CD is one of Easy Listening, mood music (almost Muzak), maybe for turning down the lamps, lightinga candle and making out with your significant other. Your first clue should be "featuring Chris Bottiand David Sanborn," two in steady rotation on the Soft jazz channels. Strangely, "Dock Of TheBay" rocks harder than the original, and "Respect Yourself"  tugs at the soul (but then, theincomparable Mavis Staples shares vocals with Aaron... nuff said.) Most of the others have beencovered better by too many artists to list. These versions have been smoothed out so muchthat there are no peaks or valleys, just a middle-of-the-road plateau.
