The receipt printer could not open tbe cash drawer and I needed this for my bussines. I bought this item and I could get the cash drawer opened from the pc. This item comes with no instalation disk or anything else it is installed automatically by windows. If you want to open it via windows you will have to have an app to do this. If you dont have an app you can go to the device list on windows and figure out the comm port in which is installed , then type windows key and R and type cmd. Then type echo hello>comm5 and the cash drawer will be opened. Note in my pc it was installed in the comm 5 port so you can create a script to open it with a click Review: Like the product - Like the product. Fortunately I found it. Steps: Right click on some empty space in Explorer / empty desktop space, and in the context menu go to "New/Shortcut". When prompted to enter a location put: "C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c echo hello>com6 This will create a desktop quick button/Icon to open the till. Your com may be different. you will need to look at your device manager to see what com number was assigned. It should run in a circuit. **Q: Anyone have this working with Windows 10?** A: Yes, works fine with Windows 10 although you may have to install an older driver in some instances. **Q: I notice that 1 side of the interface has a "printer" type of port, what type of port is on the opposite side? is it for lan or ethernet?** A: The opposite side has a 6 pin rj12 (registered jack) which looks like a phone cord jack, for the drawer kick cable coming from the register drawer.
