I've had no trouble with the pillow smelling (I let it air out for a day before I started using it initially). I've had no trouble with the pillow being hot or retaining heat. And lastly, after 4 months the foam has still NOT started to flatten out and it seems to have retained its original shape and dimension. This was a concern I had when I first ordered the pillow so happy to report that it does not seem to be a short term issue, although I'm sure some day it will start to loose its dimensions and flatten out since it is made of foam.
