An Excellent Pitcher Worth Your Money
Of late, I’ve felt like I’ve been living in an Eastern Bloc country during the Cold War days. By that, I mean that whenever I buy a brand-name product, I find myself disappointed by the poor quality despite the brand-name price. It is almost as if items on shelves are cheap knockoffs of the real thing, e.g., a “Samsoong” pretending to be a “Samsung” (and I chose that brand for a reason - hint, hint). I know this impression isn’t just true for me, either, as there are plenty of YouTube videos documenting this as well, and even the New York Times had a piece about how former luxury brands are now rubbish as well. Having said that, I am happy to report that this Brita water pitcher is not part of that awful trend in quality. It is the first thing in a very long time that was worth every penny, Truthfully, I am surprised by this, as my previous experience with Brita pitchers was not positive. The filters were always very good, but the pitcher design left much to be desired. Specifically, my previous two Brita pitchers had a very nasty habit of spilling water onto my feet, table, whatever, whenever there was any water in the reservoir. While some people might appreciate getting a good foot-washing whenever they pour themselves a glass of water, I did not. This issue was largely due to the way the reservoir cap sat lightly upon the pitcher itself, giving water in the reservoir an easy way to escape when tilted downwards, such as when pouring, as well as giving the cap a 50-50 chance of falling off and landing on the table during a pour. It was an infuriating and lazy design flaw, frankly, so infuriating that I was tempted to take a picture of an ancient Grecian pitcher, tape it to the Brita pitcher with a note suggesting Brita’s engineers study it carefully to see how pitchers should work, and throw the entire thing on the front lawn of the corporate HQ. I was so disgusted with the design that I switched to Brita’s competitor, Pur, only to discover that their design had the same flaws, but worse! When people talk about “late-stage capitalism,” they might be on to something… Recently, that pitcher’s poor quality began to fragment…literally, so I needed a new one. After reading a positive review of Brita’s new design in the New York Times’ “Wirecutter” newsletter, I decided to gamble with my money and return to the brand. And I am glad that I did; it truly is a vast improvement over the older design. I knew I had a winner when I removed the pitcher from the box and discovered that the leaky reservoir cap held in place by mere gravity had been replaced with a cap INSET into the pitcher itself, ensuring that water inside the reservoir could not leak out when pouring and, needless to say, making it impossible for the cap to fall off as well. Finally! What is more, ergonomically speaking, I find this design to be a pleasure to hold, with an easily graspable handle that makes handling a full pitcher much less of an awkward experience. As I wrote above, Brita always had a good filter, but the new generation of filters is a step up in quality. I am fortunate in that the local water is fine except for the taste of chlorine, so I do not need a filter that scrubs the water heavily. Having said that, I am glad to see that the filter now removes even more contaminants than in years past (from what I recall), and is better at removing that chlorine taste. Out of curiosity, I purchased an “Elite” filter. These are roughly twice the price of the regular filters, but they last up to six months, so the value is there. The quality is also superior to the standard filter, as I could not detect any chlorine aftertaste after using the Elite filter. The Elite filters cost more, but they are worth it. Overall, this Brita pitcher is the first thing I have purchased in a long time that was well worth the money. A smart design (finally!), coupled with a choice of two very good to excellent filters, I am at a loss to find something to criticize. Well done, Brita. May other companies follow your example.

Exactly as needed.
Exactly as needed. Large 10 cup capacity, so can easily fill my coffee maker. Fits in the refrigerator door, filling from the faucet is easily accomplished. Filters quickly, looks good and works well. Everything I needed and expected.

Always clearly filtered water. Too big for me.
I had a Brita Filter Pitcher for years but just broke it. Current design is slightly different than old one. Always does it job well and we have fresh water. I gave it a 4 because of current packaging. The lid is shut down with a invisible, clear tape which is almost impossible to find. I have weak hands so using a sharp knife to find the tape and cut it was time consuming. BRITA - please use a colored tape of some other way to tack down lid. Second comment - I wish I knew Brita made a smaller pitcher. I have it on my list to buy later. I can't fill this large one all the way because it is too heavy. It's heaviness made me break it in the first place. Finally - a very picky complaint. The stickers for replacement reminders are too small and hard to get off sheet. Waste of paper and ink.

Improves tap water taste
My water filter on fridge broke, using this for now. The pitcher is easy to use & clean, improves the taste of water, affordable, doesn’t take up much space in fridge

Quality pitcher
I feel that this water pitcher helps my water taste better. The filter was easy to install in the pitcher and it holds a lot of water (10 cups worth) which is great and it fits perfectly in my refrigerator so you have fresh clean water at your fingertips. I feel the price wasn’t reasonable also.

Must have for college dorms, especially.
This product works amazingly. I bought this pitcher for use in my college dorm during my freshman year, which was 6 years ago. The town my college was located in was relatively renowned for not having very good tap water at all. There were times the water was definitely not clear. This filter allowed me to stay hydrated without having to leave my room for a bottle filler several times a day. The size was great for lasting about a day for one person. When my roommate was home, it was likely I’d have to refill it, but that wasn’t a big deal to me. It filters relatively quickly; definitely not as slow as something like a Berkey water filter. The parts are very easy to clean, the white color never stained, and it definitely met my needs for what I purchased it for. As I’ve left the dorms and moved into apartments, I’ve kept the pitcher. The only moderate hassle is keeping up with the filters, which is more than likely my ADHD brain and not the fault of the filter. I’d sharpie the date I changed it onto the filter box and try to mark my calendar for 2 months down the line so I’d remember, incase anyone is as forgetful as me. Then when I’d put the last filter in, I’d add filters to my grocery list so I wouldn’t get stuck without good drinking water. There have assuredly been times where I’ve gone longer than 2 months, and while I wouldn’t recommend that for health, it never tasted weird or made me sick, except for the time I neared 4 months. Then, it definitely started having a taste. But that’s user error and not a product fault.

Brita never disappoints!
I had my last Brita for over 10 years before needing to replace it. Now I have this new one with a slightly different design but of equal value and use. I use it for everything that requires water consumption and the taste of the water is so clean it even makes coffee and tea taste better. The handle is easy to hold with a light textured pattern on the inner edge to assist in sure gripping. The excess flow hole is still in the handle so I put mine down in the sink to refill the reservoir, just in case I accidentally over fill the res. Highly recommend!

Cumple su función
Me parece super eficiente y cumple su función. Este modelo no trae una luz ni nada que diga que hay que cambiar el filtro. Ese modelo seguramente es otro. Es de buena calidad

You can taste the difference
I can definitely taste the difference between our tap water and filtered water out of this pitcher. Since we switched to using this filtered water in our kettle, we no longer get deposits stuck to the inside of the kettle, though they do tend to begin forming when it gets close to filter change time, every two months. The filter rate does tend to slow a bit depending on usage and filter age, but overall, water is filtered quite quick. The size of the pitcher works well with our Frigidaire refrigerator, the pitcher just fitting between the shelves. One thing to remember is that you'll probably be topping up the pitcher every time you use it, since the filter has to remain moist, and at least partially submerged at all times. To fill the pitcher, you'll need to fill the top compartment twice, but use caution to not over fill. You can find filters on sale for fairly cheap at some warehouse retailers, far cheaper than I've seen online. For how much use we've gotten out of this, and how fewer trips to the bottle depot we've made, this has paid for itself many times over.

Hate the design
It actually works, you can taste the difference in water. Hate the design of the pitcher. A small mosquito got into it, because the opening is wide enough for these guys to enter. So can’t really keep it in my room. And the lid doesn’t fit onto the pitcher properly.
