Nice for the price
This products is nice and I am happy with it. The only complain is that one of the lights doesn't work, I think the bulb got damaged in delivery and I am not sure how to replace it. It is difficult to get the bulb out and I don't want to break it. If someone knows please let me know!

Great for still life
As always Cowboy Studio has provided quality, cost efficient, easy to use and set up products. Cowboy Studio is always my first stop when it comes to Studio, lighting and still life photography equipment. The lights do get quit hot when used for long periods so be sure to let them cool before handling. The included tripod is only sturdy enough for a point and shoot not a DSLR.The only advise I have for future buyers is that you'll want to buy a travel garment steamer for the background cloths & tents. An iron works okay for the cloths but a garment steamer works best. The tents typically don't need to be de wrinkled but after multiple use they do tend to.

junk
this must have been returned once before. some of the parts were out of the packaging and the carry case has writing all over the bottom. I contactedCowboy studio and they said they cant help me unless i sent them thee order from Amazon. i am on the road and do not have regular access to email computers or printers. when i set the lights up to test them one of the bulbs was also dead.I am attempting to return this to amazon but have no printer to print the rma or shipping label oh yea if i want to exchange it i cant get it replaced for 1-3 months. this is a crock

A good kit - if only it were shipped complete!
I'm at something of a loss as to how I should review this product. On the one hand, I'm satisfied with the quality of what I received. On the other, I'm missing a piece - and unlike with the previous reviewer, the manufacturer won't provide it to me.I opted for this product since it is said to include a carrying case, which unfortunately was not provided. Without the carrying case, this kit is a poor value, since you can purchase the individual items for less. When I contacted the manufacturer of the product indicating that the kit was incomplete, they said that they would not provide the missing component, and told me that I should contact Amazon. Amazon, of course, will allow me to return it - but I'm wondering whether it's worth the hassle at this point.I will describe below what I actually received in the box and note my opinions of the individual items, rating each component as if I had purchased it independently at the price listed on its product page:** 1x CowboyStudio 17" Photo Soft Box Light Tent Cube - 4 Chroma Key Backdrops: FOUR STARS **I'm very happy with this part of the kit. It came folded in its own tiny case (oddly labeled as 16"). The case for this is a very low grade synthetic material with very low quality zippers, but it gets the job done. The material of the tent itself seems to be a synthetic blend with metal strips that apply tension to form its shape. The fabric has some wrinkles, but under the studio lighting you can make them invisible. The tent itself, when fully expanded, is larger than I had really expected, but it's a very good size for most small items that you might want to photograph.A very important note - when you open the case, this thing will *jump out* at you and expand to its full size without any intervention on your part unless you specifically apply pressure to it. Be VERY CAREFUL with it on first use until you understand how this works. Also note how it's folded so you can close it back up - there are no instructions provided and you'll be hard pressed to figure it out on your own. There's a cowboystudio youtube channel that shows you how to properly fold the thing - you're going to need it!** 2x Lights + Stands + Bulbs, available as a kit: CowboyStudio Photography Table Top Photo Studio Lighting Kit - 2 Light Kits: FOUR STARS **There are really two sets of three components here that I think you can buy individually: stands, bulbs, lights. For the price of these items I have absolutely no complaints. The lights themselves are made of a fairly cheap feeling but adequate metal construction, and they do what lights do - put power into a bulb and reflect the light forward. The bulbs are bigger than I expected and they're *bright*. At first I wondered if I could just use a CFL bulb I had lying around, but these things are much brighter than what I had. The stands are a little bit chintzy feeling but they do a fine job of holding the things up. Considering the price I'm very satisfied. One note - be careful screwing in the bulbs. At first I didn't realize how far they had to be screwed in and I was worried they had been damaged in shipping, but you have to get them in there pretty good to turn on. Seeing as how they extend well beyond the rim of the light reflector there's zero protection for them from an accidental knock, so you'll want to remove them when moving or storing the kit. Be VERY CAREFUL to not damage them on installation; use the base of the bulb to apply the appropriate pressure, NOT the glass part!** High Quality Carrying Case for the Whole Kit: ZERO STARS / NONEXISTENT **Unless they consider the cardboard shipping box that it came in a "high quality carrying case," this is the piece that you *won't* get in this kit. So, you know, for not existing, I'm giving it zero stars.** Bottom line **This is one of the most frustrating reviews I've written for Amazon, because overall I *do* like what I got. But given that I'm not the only one who had a problem like this (see the earlier review here) and given the fact that the manufacturer won't provide the missing bit, I have to think that this is just flat out false advertising, and that really rubs me the wrong way. If you're considering this kit, I would strongly advise against it; instead, get the individual components, which are a better value.

Good for the price. Tripod is useless!
I purchased this to photograph my collection of antique cameras. And, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the products. That is except for the completely useless tripod. If you have anything heavier than a point and shoot camera, forget the tripod. It's a total of 6 inches tall, and can barely be adjusted in any manner. Just use a standard tripod and put this on your kitchen or dining room table. The lights are pretty good. Continuous lighting makes it easy to get the effect you're looking for without a lot of test shooting. I have taken some pretty nice warm shots off of these lights, and the soft white tent does a nice job of diffusing the glow to make for nice specular highlights. THEY RUN HOT! BEWARE!!!! Hard to adjust when they're been on for a while. The kit comes with 4 backgrounds, and I've used the black and the white so far. The black is excellent. It's nicely flocked and doesn't show too much background reflection. It would probably be better if I steamed out the fold marks. The white requires back lighting to achieve a bright white, and I find myself wishing there was a way to hang a 3rd light inside the tent for this purpose. (Not a defect, merely a standard concept in photography, white backgrounds turn grey unless you light them properly or can correct with white balance . . .)Reflective product table is made of acrylic. Peeling the protective paper off it took 45 min, otherwise no issues there. It's nicely reflective and makes for a beautiful bottom piece. The tent is good. People have complained that they don't know how to refold it. This is a standard photography pop-up style frame. Just like a reflector, etc. You push the sides in, and fold it until flat. Then you TWIST it! If you twist it properly it forms a nice, neat flat disc. It takes all of 10 seconds once you know how. Cowboystudio is not known for their documentation, unfortunately. They should have put in better instructions. I wish I had bought the larger tent, though. This tent is a bit cramped for me. (And, I'm not talking about sleeping in it . . . ) The bottom lip of the tent has a tendency to show up in my framing when trying to photograph larger objects. If you are shooting jewelry, etc. you could bring a macro lens in closer and this won't be a problem. For me, I've had to crop it out a couple of times.Summary: Tent - good, but small. Takes practice to fold. Backgrounds - well made. Tripod - CRAP, don't use it. Lights - good. but hot to the touch.Consider buying the larger tent and the pieces separately if you need anything larger than 17 inches.

Great for me, but maybe not a pro
Works great. I have used it for everything from jewelry photos to a portrait for an entire litter (5) kittens. The lights are good, but you might want to add light for some things. I have seen better kits, but not at anywhere near this price, I am an amatuer, not a pro, and this is perfect for me.
