Step two: realize the nut and metal post had formed a lifelong bond. Step three: introduce them to our grinder. Once we finally freed the wiper arm, the replacement went on smoothly and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Wipe. Cleanly. Quietly. Like a champ. We’re both happy with the end result and the wiper performs perfectly in actual rain. That said, Ford made a questionable design choice using two different types of metal that clearly enjoy fusing together forever. Fair warning to future buyers: a wiper blade extractor kit was also needed, and it definitely helped during the removal process.
