A: That is how mine was installed but I am not a qualified electrician so am not an authority for whether this is ‘allowed’.

**Q: Q. tried programming an over midnight setting with on timer 18:00 turning off at 00:00 (midnight) and then on again at 00:00 but get ERR**
A: It sounds like you want to run the timer starting at 18:00 and turning off at some time in the morning (say 06:00). Do not try to turn off at midnight and turn on again at the same time. If it's the same 7d/wk then it's easy, just put in the on time and off time and the timer will work. 

If you want to do week nights you have to be a little more creative (because, iirc, there's a week day setting and a weekend setting as well as all week). I think there's a specific day setting also. So you can set
Weekdays on at 18:00, off at 06:00
Saturday off at 06:00
Sunday on at 18:00
which will turn on Sunday night, off Monday morning, do the same thing every night until Friday, then off Saturday Morning, but not Saturday night into Sunday morning.
If you don't want it to come on Sunday night, just skip that last step.
Alternatively you could just have the off step for the same time EVERY day, and only have on times when you want it. The timer doesn't care, it just registers the on or off request, they don't have to be paired.
