The description here says afterwards but looking at more elaborate descriptions it seems that's wrong.** A: The idea is that this would seal the paint after you wash, clean and polish the paint (if it needs the polishing). The you apply wax on top of the sealed surface if you want that extra layer of filler and shine. My personal cars get a sealant once a year and then Optimum Spray Wax on top many times a year since it's so quick and easy to do after washing. **Q: what's the deferences between this product and this Optimum Gloss-Coat Paint Coating NEW FORMULA** A: Opti-Seal is only going to last a few months a best for daily drivers. However, it's a great product because you can apply as often as you like without "dulling" your finish. It goes on super easy, creates good gloss, and has excellent hydrophobicity. I would highly recommend building up at least 3 coats to give you a bird bomb proof finish. If you like carnauba waxes then Opti-Seal is a great companion as it plays really nice with Collinite 915, Dodo Juice Blue Velvet, Natty's Red Wax, Chem Guys 50/50 and others. You can alternate layers building great lustre and water spot/bird bomb resistance. With several alternating layers as above I find I can get water spots out just with light rubbing with inexpensive Turtle Wax/ICE Detailer.If you are considering Gloss Coat, then try Opti-Seal first - as they both go on the same - so Opti-Seal gives you an easy way to practice before taking the coating plunge. Although Opti-Seal may seem pricey it goes a real long way - I've done my 2015 Nissan Rogue at least a dozen times completely, and still have 65% of the bottle left. Highly recommend using the Optimum foam applicators. Finally, you can easily rinse your applicator with Optimum No Rinse (at 1:16 dilution) after applying Opti-Seal (and Gloss Coat for that matter). **Q: would using regular soaps to wash your car strip the opti seal protection?** A: We would suggest using a high quality ph balanced soap for best durability of optiseal. **Q: it doesn't appear to last more than 1-2 weeks. its smooth to touch initially, but not after 1-week. You really do only need one or two sprays to spread over each section of the car. Then you just keep rubbing until it vanishes. It leaves a stunning, glossy finish that everything just slides right off. It’s easier to apply than P&S Bead Maker because there’s no buffing, although you can for extra gloss. You can’t beat it for crystal clear glass in the car or anything else. I liked it so much on my truck, I used it on my TV screen. All I can say is, WOW! You can’t go wrong with this Opti-Seal. I did an entire mid-size truck with a very small amount of product and you can see the results in the photos. So, it may seem pricey, but one bottle will last a very long time.
