It wasn't. If I put a full tray of ice cubes, 14, fill it with cold liquid, the ice will melt within 6-8 hours. The convenience store mug would have ice in it 24 hrs later. Depends on your needs I guess.Having had mine for a long time the only flaw other than poor insulating was the screw anchoring the handle became loose. It hasn't done that after I tightened it back up but needs mentioning. Cleaning is easy and the top screws on so major spillage is unlikely. This is it! Not only is it stable(unlike regular travel mugs), but it is COMPLETELY sealed when the flap is clicked shut. A big plus is that you put an iced drink in it and 8 hours later the ice has hardly melted! Loved it so much that I purchased some of their travel bubba mugs for the cup holders in the car. Their shape allows for more liquid while still being able to fit into our Ford Explorer's cup holders. They are made BPA free as well.
