I didn't know you could get vanilla essence without either alcohol OR sugar. This is in oil and tastes fine. I like 1/2 teaspoon in hot milk at bedtime! It's also good in cake baking and traditional egg custard. I use the same amount as the recipe suggests, it seems to be a similar strength of flavour as other brands of vanilla essence.. I know you can get vanilla paste, pods and powder, but this seemed the simpler option, as quantities in recipes are usually for vanilla essence.
