These are the perfect thickness and the drawstring has so far proven to hold up to wear and tear for various handlers. When the ice cubes come out of the ice maker they tend to be a little "soft". I have found that if I can bag them & get them in the large freezer they will freeze very hard in a short time and keep forever. No strange odors from the plastic. Altogether a great value for the money. In an effort to protect my ice from the freezer air I tried using a covered Tupperware container. That was awkward to handle in and out of the freezer and ultimately shattered when it got dropped while frozen. We lay our ice bags flat in the freezer and small holes developed from sliding it in and out. That was solved by double bagging the ice bags and we haven't needed to change the bags since and have been using the same bags for a few months now.
