Which seems to be a length which allows me to connect to my phone in my front or back pocket. It should be noted that I am 5’11” tall. **Q: I love the jvc haebx. how is this different?** A: I do not like these earphones due to the length of the cord. I carry my device in my front pocket and the cord is too short so it is always pulling the earphones out of my ears. **Q: Is the cord durable and freefrom shorts?** A: I ordered 1 pair and they worked so well i have purchased 3 more. First off, they do not show the plug on the end but just know they are NOT CORDLESS. They work flawlessly on several Amazon "fire" tablets. No batteries to go dead. and dont fall our of or down from your ears. I also us a pair with my mp3 player . I weare these when cutting the grass with my walk behind lawnmower. Other "in the ear" type phones easily fall out. Sound quality is excellent . they will plug into most automobile input jacks,, I also purchased the usb C adapter to 3.5 mm jack, nice to have if for any reason your IPOD battersies wear down. **Q: what is the ear clip for?** A: It wraps around the back of your ear to hold the earbud in place (in your ear).
