Falling has never been so Fun

I love this game! It's twisted and beautiful and dark and bright all at once. If you love dark stories, if you love bizarre strange worlds, if you love eye candy in games, this is for you.BUT......if you have very little patience, you might consider skipping this game or finally tackling the thing we call patience. That's what I had to do.Alice: Madness Returns is riddled with obstacle courses in wonderland that you, as Alice, must find your way through. Much of this involves jumping, timing, finding hidden rooms, and lots more jumping.I have the PC version for this game. Happily, there are no additional downloads to your computer that I noticed, and there is no internet requirement.JUMPING has almost an infinite variety of trajectories based on how long you hold the jump button, how many times you jump, if you turn while in mid-air, if you hold it so long that you start to float, etc. You can easily over-jump a simple nearby hop obstacle if you're not watching what you're doing. Getting the hang of jumping was for me, by far the hardest task in the game. Everything else I drooled over like a twisted kid that just got their TeddyScares for Christmas. I've watched other peoples' videos on youtube for guides....they seem to have a much easier time with it so maybe it's just that I'm not good at that sort of thing. Fortunately, every time Alice falls off a ledge into the depths of Wonderland, she's instantly teleported back to your last large standing spot, so you can try again. I found this took a lot of tension away and I was able to relax better and focus more knowing that if i messed up, I wouldn't have to restart the whole stage over.COMBAT is ridiculously entertaining. The creatures are funny and grotesque and imaginative, and I'm always excited when I find a new one that I haven't seen before. In the beginning you're given simple slash-with-blade enemies or Bolterflies that you can easily take down with one grind from the pepper grinder. As you progress and learn the feel of your weapons the enemies get more challenging and more fun! Knock back fireballs at your enemy with the umbrella shield and blow their arms off, hit Eyepots in the eye and stun them so you can rush up and slash them to bits, dodge and watch Madcaps miss you and get fork weapons get comically stuck in the ground, and more. (I don't want to give away too much!)In Alice: Madness Returns you go through chapters of different areas of Wonderland, and Alice "wakes up" or "comes to her senses" back to a dark and lovely dreary London setting between each chapter in which she interacts with people from the real world. Mystery abounds and characters seem to have hidden agendas! I've never played the first American McGee's Alice but the story (and also extras in the main menu) have enough details for me to not feel lost at all during this story line. Finding memories along the way in Wonderland also adds delightful little tidbits as you hear people from her past (including her dead family) talking to her about what was. I've never met Alice's family, but just from these memories they seem very fleshed out and real characters to me.So why the 4 stars? Glitches. That's why. Sometimes after you switch to pepper grinder the vorpal blade doesn't wanna come back out. Sometimes the umbrella shield stops working. Once I even couldn't get into a hidden area because the "smash-able" object was registering as a permanent object that was blocking the entrance. Most bugs are easy enough to work around, but sometimes require restarting the game and starting from your last save point, which can be annoying and frustrating. Minimizing the game to look up a guide on another screen also sometimes has problems, the game won't maximize again or stop responding sometimes and I'll have to forcefully close it and restart it.If you still want to enjoy every delicious bit of this gory and gruesome dark tale, and take in every breathtaking view of Wonderland, cheats are extremely easy to implement. I don't recommend using them unless you feel you have to, to work around cheats, (like not being able to defend with the umbrella shield), because the thrill of being on your last rose of health and going into Hysteria mode is adrenaline-pumping excitement. But if you must, feel free, god mode does make things much more relaxing. Is it creepy if I start laughing when I see blood flying as I slash things to bits?Enjoy this game, sink your bloody fangs into it. I know I did :D

Nice to graphic to make me feel like I'm in a fairytale(or maybe an nightmare)! It is a little bit tricky to control view point.
