Gourmet Settings Avalon 20-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 4

Absolutely my favorite silverware ever! I bought my first set 14 years ago at Bed Bath and Beyond. We always ran short on this one or that one(mostly knives i think). Anyhow, I searched for years in different stores and I even looked through tons on Amazon. So, when I found them here about 4 years ago, I bought two more sets. These are my favorite set because; -I put everything into the dishwasher and air dry, these have been completely fine. -it has some weight to them, and it is balanced, making it comfortable to use. - 14 years rust free, and 4 years rust free(i leave my silverware in cups of water in the sonk after being used to soak) never seen rust on any of the pieces. - the design is simple, and elegant(wife and I saw them being used in a "Millionaire Mansion" on a game show a couple years ago)

The knives were dull, they hadn’t put an edge on. Quite useless.

Bought this in 2007, and have used it every single day since I got them. I grew up in a home where we only used our nice stuff on very special occasions. I wanted to my everyday items to be "nice", and durable. I was so pleased when I got these, they looked better than the picture, and I loved the weight in my hands. IMO the design fits both modern, traditional or rustic tastes. I loved them so much I bought a second set as a spare. HOWEVER, 8 years later it is still unopened, because my first set set still looks great!! And I just put them in the dishwasher, no special handing. I've left them soaking in unwashed dishes overnight (Don't judge me! LOL). The handles actually still look unchanged. On rare occasions I might see a small dot of rust on one of them, but I can scrape it off with my nail. The polished parts show some light scuffing, so they don't look NEW, but still very good. I've gotten so many compliments on them over the years. They are very sturdy, in 8 years I've used them with every kind of food. Our kids have been using the smaller ones, while we use the big ones. The "smaller" spoons aren't really teaspoon size, I could use them as regular spoons. While writing up this review I notice that there are "minispoons" available which are more the real teaspoon sizes, I am planning to get them now!

I originally received this flatware as a wedding gift 16 years ago. The flatware has lasted longer than the marriage ! The set is beautiful, well crafted, feels substantial and not a speck of rust or wear. Sometimes when I have company over I would run out of forks or spoons, so I ordered an additional set to expand what I had. While the new set is a bit shinier than the old set, the pattern is the same, they feel the same and with some time will be indistinguishable from the older pieces.

I just love these! I have enough settings to serve 12 people. I have also purchased the serving pieces and the little spoons, forks and butter knives. They are unique and artistic and go well with my eclectic collection of pottery dishware. I bought my original servings about 5 years ago and have continued adding to it.
