This is probably a silly question: where do you put the lighter to fire this up?

Before you place the container on top you see a cross patterned, fine mesh screen. You open the gas valve slightly and flick your lighter. The flame is almost invisible but you will see the screen begin to glow. It takes very little gas to get maximum heat. I prefer using a match or light a strip of paper or twig with my lighter. You should have boiling water in 2 minutes or less even in subfreezing conditions. Enjoy!

Has anyone used a propane bottle with propane adapter on this? Will it work?

i have tried it, the pressure is higher so it runs hotter but it works.

Can a typical pot be used with this?
