I wondered if someone had invented an LED version with a rechargable battery so I tried Amazon and sure enough someone had. It's so inexpensive I had to try one. This is amazing. It charges in no time and seems to work for many, many hours. There are three brightness levels and color hues. It weighs a couple of ounces. I absolutely love it and cannot imagine why it doesn't cost more. A wonderful book light and great for travel too.
