Networks are everywhere, from the internet, to social networks, and the genetic networks that determine our biological existence. Illustrated throughout in full colour, this pioneering textbook, spanning a wide range of topics from physics to computer science, engineering, economics and the social sciences, introduces network science to an interdisciplinary audience. From the origins of the six degrees of separation to explaining why networks are robust to random failures, the author explores how viruses like Ebola and H1N1 spread, and why it is that our friends have more friends than we do. Using numerous real-world examples, this innovatively designed text includes clear delineation between undergraduate and graduate level material. The mathematical formulas and derivations are included within Advanced Topics sections, enabling use at a range of levels. Extensive online resources, including films and software for network analysis, make this a multifaceted companion for anyone with an interest in network science. Review: Great book! - Great network science! Review: A must read - A good book, with a lot of interesting material and a very well achieved pedagogical aim.

Excellent book and I highly recommend it for network and system engineers to understand basic laws of networks such as small world networks, scale-free network, Achilles hell, resiliency of a network against targeted attack, network failures propagation due to interconnectedness across domains.

Great introduction to the Science of Networks and complex systems
Great introduction to the Science of Networks and complex systems. This was a required text for a university course, however, I found it very readable with an excellent introduction to the history of the field.

It's all connected!
Fascinating college-level text which discovers in highly disparate fields a common core of network structures whose connectivity is distributed according to a power law. For anyone who dipped their network science toes in Barabasi's popular book 'Linked', this is going hip deep, with the mathematical underpinnings revealed and plenty of surprising examples from epidemiology, social media, transport systems, communications systems etc. etc. Utterly addictive networking of numerous concepts.

Bonito

500 pagine molto dense.

A good and comprehensive tutorial
Really, I loved reading this book. The contextual introduction showing that this emerging field of research has suffered like many others of some lack of consideration for many years before it really started to be recognized as a "useful" concept is edifying. Network science and its analytical methodology serves the research on complex systems in many ways. The book essentially tries to demonstrate that the root concepts and "laws" apply to many different other sciences. It is a great reading for any one wanting to know what complex systems are all about and how they can be analyzed.

Si trova online sul sito
Ma la versione cartonata è molto bella, la consiglio! Non perdetevi la prefazione di come si è dovuto sbattere per "inventare" e "vendere" la "nuova" teoria delle reti.
