It's not UL listed and I question the ... - A client purchased this GIS-R20 from desertcart in January of 2016, I installed it. 1. It seems to work. 2. Most rack equipment takes an AC cord, this one takes a DC power supply (included) however the connector is highly proprietary which would make a quick replacement difficult unless you are skilled with a soldering iron and multimeter. 3. The power supply is cheap garbage. It's not UL listed and I question the legitimacy of the other certifications on the logo. I am in awe that a manufacturer with a $1000+ piece of equipment cheaps out with a $5 power supply, the foundation upon which their product operates. A little more investment could solidify their product (unless it's a planned failure point). Crummy power supplies are also a hazard. 4. When interfaced to my Thinkpad's ethernet port for programming it causes my touchpad to behave erratically, I had to use the trackpoint instead. It made me nervous because it it's causing this sort of interference in my laptop via the ethernet cable then what effect might it have on other equipment it's interfaced to? Could this stem back to a crummy power supply? Possibly. 5. It has 4 ports labeled WAN1, WAN2, LAN1, LAN2. If you are using a single WAN then it displays a WAN2 failure on the screen, which makes the client ask questions. People don't like to see 'failure' messages. If you disable dual WAN then WAN2 in the software becomes LAN1, LAN1 becomes LAN2, and LAN2 becomes LAN3. This means that the ports in the software are now mislabeled vs what the front panel says. Seems like a foolish design just begging for issues. 6. The front bezel is 3D printed and looks very rough. This doesn't bother me, it actually looks kind of neat but it's probably also an indication of a very small operation which could explain some of the poor decision making in product design and development.
