I have not given it to my 12-year-old yet but he will love it. I read almost the whole book to purchase supplies for the experiments as part of his gift. The book makes the shopping list easy. Although other suppliers are listed as well, I went ahead and ordered everything through Jameco. I learned so much just by reading the chapters to purchase the supplies. Very well done. The book provides a stair-step approach to learning various aspects of electricity which I found perfect for a beginner. It was not overwhelming but I think it will be challenging enough to hold I interest. I love that the author said he wrote this book because he would have liked to have something like it as a child.
