Wow does this baby work!! Painted 6 rooms!!
I have to say that I was very, very did I say very impressed with the Paint Mate Plus. I was going to hire someone to paint my entire apartment but it seemed as though everyone was booked. Painting six rooms was going to be a challenge but I was armed and ready. I was worried based on some of the reviews but I followed the instructions exactly as stated. I was surprised at how well it worked. The paint went on evenly and I actually had some fun using it. I would say that the cleanup at first was time consuming but as I finished each room I got better at the cleanup and had a good system in place. Even with changing colors, I didn't have a problem with the rollers as maybe others did. I think the key is cleaning things thoroughly. I will say to buy an extra brush, mines now looks as though its on death's door. As far as splatter, I did have some here and there but that's because I'm a sloppy painter regardless. Put down some plastic to be on the safe side. My friends and family are amazed at the job I did painting, they are stunned. I don't think I would have been able to do six rooms with the traditional roller. If you have a large job like I had go with the Paint Mate Plus. Follow the instructions and clean everything completely especially if you are switching colors. Good Luck!

Great Product. A must for your tool collection.
I've been making many moves lately and every time I do, I paint the walls to make my new space feel like "my own". I was looking into spray guns, but most are made for the outdoors. I saw this product on a home improvement show (on the DIY network) and decided to give it a try. I can't image they'd endorse something that was of poor quality. PROS: - It keeps the mess down to a minimum. No more paint trays and dripping rollers. - I felt like it actually SAVED paint. Between extra paint in the tray and in the can left over with a traditional painting method, I felt like I was getting the most out of my paint amount with this product. - You can paint a fairly large wall with one refill. - The parts snap on/off to make cleaning easier. - Since you do not have to use a paint tray, the sides of the roller stay clean. Am I the only one who has trouble with globs of paint dripping off the ends of the roller? This eliminates that. - It cuts your painting time in half. You really speed though the process with this gadget. CONS: - In order to refill it, you must use a gallon can. It will not work with a quart or 5 gallon tub. But don't let that completely discourage you. Home improvement stores sell empty gallon cans that you can pour your paint in (such as 1 Gallon Empty Paint Can w/ Lid & Bale ), or you can reuse an old can you cleaned out. - When you first fill the paint chamber, it takes a full load of paint to completely saturate the roller. This could be discouraging to some people, but it's not like the paint just disappeared. Its just under the roller fibers. - The cleaning can be lengthy. I take it apart and clean everything separately. You also MUST make sure you do not leave any paint behind in the chamber because it could mix with a future color. I used the SHUR-LINE 5200 Professional Paint Brush & Roller Cleaner and it cuts the roller cleaning in half. With all that paint in the roller (it's saturated by holes on the inside of the roller) it took me forever to get it clean without the Paint Brush & Roller Cleaner. The roller cleaning is really the most length and tedious part of the cleaning. Overall, I would highly recommend this product. I think I'm going to get one for my mom this Christmas (she a DIYer). Just keep the instructions so you never forget how to put it back together in the future. If cleaning is not your thing, you may want to just stick to the traditional painting method. But if you like speedy results (like me) this product is a must.

Great for painting big & medium rooms.
The cleanup time is longer than a normal roller, and the naps are more expensive. But if you keep this clean it should last a very long time. I had the previous version but through an act of dumbness, I hung it by the head in my basement and broke the little black clip that keeps the roller from sliding off. that weakness disabled the entire roller, since without a roller, you cannot paint. All that being said, I have painted at least 12 rooms with this and find that it saves a lot of time going back and forth to the paint tray and less drips since it stays on the area I want to paint and less time in the air. It doesn't work well in closets or bathrooms. The minimum handle length just doesn't work well in tight spaces. The extended handle does work well for 9 foot ceilings!

Wagner paint stick would not draw paint into tube/handle. Used another brand paint stick & all OK with filling tube
I bought two paint sticks - Home Right EZ twist from another local vendor and Wagner Paint Mate Plus. The Home Right paint stick was manual and we used it the first night. We were painting the ceiling. It worked OK - I had used one before years ago when Home Right was distributing them - but cleaning it took forever. Tonight, I wanted to use the Wagner for the kitchen ceiling. I assembled it according to instructions, used the included petroleum jelly packet to lube the plunger tube gaskets, etc. I tried numerous times but the stick did not draw the paint up through the fill tube inside the paint can (which was a gallon of Sherwin Williams ceiling paint & almost full) . We had used a similar set up the night before and were successful in drawing the paint up into the tube handle, so I don't think we were doing anything wrong. Just did not work. So I am returning.

Terrific for what it is designed for.
Wow, we were primates that used to use a hand held roller to paint our walls! The back ooh the back. This item, for the price, is a terrific product for the sheer fact that it is easy to assembly, easy to use and clean up was pretty easy too because there were not many little parts. Sure, on the first paint pull, you find it all goes to the roller, but little on the wall for some reason. But one the second fill, you are off, and my Hubbie was dashing to the finish line in no time. Of course, you still need the roller/brush to do the tricky areas near the ceiling or floor. Only on star deduction was for the fact we had a tricky time using it in our 4 foot wide hall way as the plunger is long once you have pulled in a full tube of fresh paint. Other than that, I really love the item. We did consider buying the 'autonamtic' one that would have added an extra pound. I would recommend it as we found the manual process very easy to use, and the item is heavy once you have a full tube of paint in it. Took this down to a 2 star from 4 stars: next day look and decided the roller is awful for us: left a textured and blotchy look. I know if the roller is not saturated enough, but we did a huge space, it all blotchy. I can't use other rollers with this product so I am suck with their brand. We are going to have to repaint with more professional rollers that will leave a smooth finish on the wall. Ooh yuck. Great concept, but couldn't they put in better quality roller, really.

very good coverage and easy to use
this roller gave excellent coverage that was very even. the work of painting was a lot faster than if i had used a traditional roller. the reservoir is filled and i could go up the ladder and cover a decent area before filling up again. the hardest part of using this roller is the clean up, but i did a good job so i have used the same unit for many years. before i painted the exterior of my house, my neighbor paid for exterior painting of his house which they did with the sprayer. from the street, the paint job looked good, but, when i took a closer look, i could see that the coverage was only so-so. i live in south florida where it rains a lot in the summer months, so i wanted better coverage which this power roller provided.

Works well, too short for standing on floor to reach ceiling

Does the Job you need it too!
This is a 30 dollar product. It is not a 650 dollar professional painter kit. It works wonderfully if you are trying to paint large rooms, or multiple rooms. It is not ment to paint small bathrooms or little jobs. Keeping that in mind with the price it is a wondefull product that saves time. I used it on my house, went thru 4 rooms and put down a primer useing it (saved me half the time). Yes clean up sucks and it takes a while, but so does cleaning up a bunch or rollers in the sink and roll pans. 30 mins to clean up is nothing if you figure it can take 3 hours to paint one room (depending on ceiling height and size)and 12 hours to do 4 rooms. With this I got it done in a litte under 7 Hr. (with clean up). So where as someone else might have had a shorter clean up time than me, I have already finished the next project.
