Review: Great toy - We bought this for our 2yr old on his 2nd birthday. He loves Excavators, and really isn't interested in anything that isn't a realistic representation. The "cartoony" type of toy equipment just doesn't hold his interest. This one nailed it though. The tracks, the pivot points in the boom, everything. He can even put his "dude" into the drivers seat. Great toy, well worth the money. If I had any con's, it might be that it isn't rugged. Its plastic, so its obviously easier to break than the old metal tonka trucks. However, despite saying that, I've seen him being faily rough with it, and it held up well, so maybe saying it isn't rugged isn't valid anyway. Great toy, I highly recommend it.

**Q: Is the large (23") or small (17") excavator recommended for a 3-5 year old for indoor play? How do they vary in terms of  features? Thank you.**
A: I do not know how they compare, however the large one is adorable and our 3 yr grandson loves it.  So far it has been an indoor toy and we have heard no complaints from our daughter in law.

**Q: does it make noises?**
A: No noises...no batteries!

**Q: Does the bucket lift high enough to fill the bruder scania r-series dump truck container (red cabin with with green container or similar)**
A: Yes, but warning this thing was built VERY VERY cheap.  The tracks fall off of it all the time and its all plastic. My son still plays with it but its NOT worth the $70. This should be more like $25.  I was looking for construction toys for my son to play with in the dirt and this can't handle it at all but my son picks up his Little People toys or other small things with the bucket.

**Q: What is the difference between 2439 and 2484?**
A: Besides the difference of $47 in price the only thing I can tell is that the 2439 has has plastic tracks and the 2484 has rubber tracks.

The 2439 has stood up to a very active and hard on toys 2 1/2 year old with nothing broken after 6 months of hard play.

Go ahead and spend the money, this thing works great, and has great detail. My son loves playing with it, and there is no assembly required, take it out of the box and start digging. It’s pretty large but it’s fun to operate.
