While they often taste like an approximation of the original, they usually hit the spot. This is not the case for these protein donuts. When I opened the package the smell was repulsive—almost like vanilla vinegar. The flavor was similar. The texture was cakey protein product texture, but had unexpected and unwelcome bits of material—maybe dried fruit?—throughout. I complained to my roommate who thought I was exaggerating.
